Virgin Atlantic Baggage Policy 

Carry-On Allowance:

All carry-on baggage must fit in the overhead bin or beneath the seat in front of you and must adhere to the following requirements:

For Economy and Premium Economy passengers

  • A maximum of 1 piece of baggage is allowed.
  • The maximum dimensions of the baggage must not exceed the dimensions of 22 x 14 x 9 inches (length x width x height).
  • The maximum weight of the baggage must not exceed 22lbs.

For Upper Class passengers –

  • A maximum of 2 pieces of baggage is allowed.
  • The dimensions of the baggage must not exceed 22 x 14 x 9 inches (length x width x height).
  • The maximum weight of each piece of baggage must not exceed 26 lbs.

Checked Baggage Allowance:

For passengers traveling on Transatlantic, Nigerian and Caribbean routes must adhere to the following requirements –

For Economy Class passengers –

  • A maximum of 1 piece of baggage is allowed.
  • The dimensions of the baggage must not exceed 35.5 x 29.5 x 16 inches.
  • The maximum weight of the bag must not exceed 51 lbs.

For Premium Economy passengers –

  • A maximum of 2 bags is allowed.
  • The dimensions of each of the baggage must not exceed 62 linear inches.
  • The weight of each of the baggage must not exceed 50 lbs.

For Upper Class passengers –

  • A maximum of 3 pieces of baggage is allowed.
  • The dimensions of each of the baggage must not exceed 62 linear inches.
  • The weight of the baggage cannot exceed 70 lbs.

Virgin Atlantic Pet Policy

The rules for pet transportation vary depending on passengers country and destination. The Passenger should summit documents regarding pet health before the departure. It should be noted that Virgin Atlantic only accepts cats and dogs on their flights.

Pets Rules or restriction on Virgin Atlantic flights

  • Your pet must travel in a container that is ventilated
  • All cages must be able to lock securely
  • The minimum size cage VAA will accept for travel is 53 x 40 x 38 cms (21 x 16 x 15 inches)
  • Be made of wood or hard plastic
  • Be rigid on all sides (non-collapsible) and not have a roof with a grill that opens
  • Have an appropriate sized water dish attached to the inside of the cage door
  • Be big enough to allow your pet to lie down, turn around and stand up – leaving at least 5cm (2”) between the top of your pet’s head and the roof of the box
