In April 6, 1926 VAL flew its first privately contracted air mail Flight in the United States. In the year 1931, UATC formed United Air Lines as a holding company for its airline subsidiaries. In Late 2006, Continental Airline and United Airline had many merger discussions.

On April 16, 2010, those discussions resumed. On May 2, 2010, the board of director of continental and UAL operation agreed. In October 1, 2010 the UAL changed its name to United Continental Holding. On March 3, 2012, United and Continental merged their passenger service system, frequent-flier programs, and website, which eliminated the Continental brand with exception of its logo. On June 27, 2019, company’s name changed from United Continental Holdings to United Airlines Holdings.
