Delta people are more committed than ever to keeping customers safe during the COVID-19 pandemic. Peach Corps volunteers – Delta office workers who typically help frontline employees at airports, greeting customers, wayfinding, wheelchair assistance and other duties during busy travel periods, have embarked on a new line of work to ensure a clean and sanitized environment for customers.
Last weekend more than 95 Delta people volunteered to keep ticket counters, kiosks, and other customer-facing areas sanitized at Delta’s largest hub, Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. More than 240 employees have registered to volunteer on the Peach Corps team to assist with COVID-19 specific tasks and Delta is looking to expand efforts to other hub airports.
David Teetzen, who works at the Atlanta headquarters, shared his Peach Corps volunteer experience in a Facebook post, praising his colleagues for working together to support each other and customers despite the adversity the outbreak brought.
”Even in our toughest times, we come together as a company to take care each other and our customers,” said Teetzen. “With almost no notice, volunteers from the Atlanta headquarters are showing up to continually clean equipment. All of us at Delta take great pride in the work we do and the happiness and joy we bring to our customers. Everyone stay safe out there.
