Alaska Airline is a major Airline of United States of America. Headquartered in Seattle, Washington, within the Seattle metropolitan area. Early years (1932-1945)
Alaska Airline traces its roots to McGee Airways, which was started in 1932 by Linious “Mac” McGee. The Airline flew its delightful services between Anchorage and Bristol Bay with a Stinson single-engined, three-passenger aircraft.
The Airline have faced many tough times during the period of Great Depression. There were too many Airlines in Anchorage at the time, and not enough demand to support them. In few later years the Airline performed many mergers and acquisitions that produced changes in the name and saw terrific business expand throughout Alaska. The beginning of mergers held in 1934, when McGee sold his namesake Airline for US$50000 to Star Air Service, Expansion after World War 2(1945-1949). In 1945, Alaska Airlines hired its first stewardesses. In the year 1947, Jockey James Wooten became the president of the Airline and aimed to expand the Airline greatly. Under the president's efficient leadership the company purchased surplus military aircraft from the government that were used during world war 2. The Airline also purchased Douglas DC-3s, Douglas DC-4s and Curtiss-Wright C-46 Commandos. Alaska Airlines carrier certified to operate DC-3s on skis New leadership (1950s).
Alaska Airline started the 1950 without its worldwide charter business and operations are restricted to the state of Alaska.
In 1950, the Airline purchased two smaller Alaskan Airlines, Collins Air Service and Al Jones Airways.
Economic hardship (1970s)
In the starting of 1970, Alaska Airline began Boeing 707 charter flights to Siberia in the Soviet Union. Alaska Airline was also operating Boeing 720and Boeing 720B jetliners scheduled passenger service between destinations in Alaska and Seattle during the early and mid1970s. The Airline took another blow on September 4, 1971, when a Boeing 727-100 jetliner crashed on landing in Juneau, killing 111 people and resulting in America's worst single-plane crash at time.
New Competition, new technologies (1990s)
Alaska Airline started the year 1990 with fantastic plans to lease 24 Boeing 737-400s from international Lease Finance Corporation (ILFC).
In 1992 the first aircraft was delivered. Airline marked its 19th unbeatable consecutive year of profits in turbulent industry and got many
awards for customer service, Bruce Kennedy retired in May 1991 and was succeeded by Raymond J. Vecci.
Alaska Offers best in Class comfortable Cabins
First Class is available on all mainline aircraft and jet regional aircraft. First Class features priority boarding, and complementary hot meals, alcoholic beverages, towel service, and snacks.
Premium Class is available on all jet regional aircraft and all mainline aircraft. It is located in first few rows of the economy cabin and features 35 of seat pitch, four more inches in Alaska's than main cabin. Passenger’s receive priority boarding, complimentary premium snacks and complimentary alcoholic beverages. Additional food can be purchased.
Main Cabin is Alaska's economy class offering. In Main Cabin passenger receive complimentary snack but no alcoholic drinks. Fresh meals, alcoholic beverages, and additional snacks are also available for purchase. On mainline aircraft, every seat offer USB and power outlets.
